At last, we've started right at the beginning of the Bible, in Genesis chapter one! After a few songs about how God made everything, Sherry came out and asked Jarod, Tyler and a guest to build a tree house for her. They discussed the materials they would need but then Sherry asked them to make the tree house out of nothing. The boys tried their best but failed. Sherry went on to say that while humans cannot make something out of nothing, God can and did.

We had an exciting skit where God went through the six days of creation. Everything He made shows us something about Him. For example, the sky is so big and is over everything, and that's just like God. The sun touches everything and sheds light, just like God. And lastly, He made man. Man was made last to show that God didn't need Man, but God did want to show Man who He is and how much He loves Man.

The puppets came in to show everyone some pictures they had drawn. Sarah the dolphin drew a picture of how she was afraid of things on land. Molly the otter drew the river, which she is afraid of because she can't swim. And Pigalett the pig drew a picture of the mud, which she can't stand because she is a very clean pig. All of these pictures showed something about the puppets, just like creation shows us something about God.

We're starting something new with the memory verses. To encourage the kids to memorize them, we've bought a candy jar. For every verse they memorize (as well as question answered correctly), a small candy gets put in the jar. Once the jar is full, we'll have a party and everyone can have some candy (not the candy that's been sitting in the jar, don't worry). The kids already seemed to enjoy it this morning and the bottom of the jar is nearly covered. Parents, as you are the ones with them most of the time, we encourage you to help them memorize and explain it again, if need be. We've sent memory verse cards home with the children and the weekly verse will be posted in the Memory Verse tab on the left.
