This last Friday, we had another Pro D Day camp, with the theme of Superheroes. We had so much fun! With over 70 kids attending, the day was full of crafts, funny skits and a lot of laughter. The morning opened up with songs and a skit about Captain Cosmic, who creates a Superhero Academy for his new recruits. Captain Cosmic loved his recruits very much and was going to train them to protect the world. However, they had one thing they couldn't do; they were not allowed to pull the lever that lowered the force field around the academy.

In the following skits, the evil Doctor Chaotticus and her minions found the academy and plotted to take it over. The Doctor tricked the recruits into flipping the switch, which meant they disobeyed Captain Cosmic and the academy now belonged to Chaotticus. She began training the recruits how to be evil, such as punching each other instead of helping.

However, Captain Cosmic (who had never been far away) had a proposal for the Doctor. The Doctor could take Captain Cosmic's only son and kill him instead of killing the recruits.  She accepted the offer.  The Doctor agreed and the Captain's son was led away. A moment later, Doctor Chaotticus came back and announced that the son was dead. Chaotticus, sure she had won, led the recruits away, for though she couldn't kill them now, they still belonged to her. After they had gone, Captain Cosmic brought his son back to life and declared that they would get the recruits back.

A bit later, Doctor Chaotticus brought the recruits out for more training and everyone was shocked to see Captain Cosmic's son alive. Doctor Chaotticus got upset, saying that the son never actually died but Captain Cosmic explained that his son really did die. But the Captain's super power is the ability to make people alive again. And now, though the recruits still belonged to the Doctor, all they had to do was tell Captain Cosmic they were sorry for disobeying, and ask for forgiveness. Much to the Doctor's dismay, each recruit said sorry and was forgiven, and so, stopped belonging to her. Even Doctor Chaotticus' minions said sorry and Captain Cosmic chased the Doctor out of the academy. Everyone else then left together to have a feast.

This story was a picture of what God did for us. He created the world and us, but we disobeyed Him and couldn't be friends with Him anymore. But God never stopped loving us, and so He sent His only son, Jesus, to die in our place. But Jesus didn't stay dead! God raised Jesus back to life and now we simply have to say sorry for what we've done, and ask for forgiveness.

The rest of the day was spent making superhero shields, running around the gym and learning a memory verse. This time, we learned 2 Timothy 1:9, which says "He has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace." We had such a fun day and look forward to our week long camp in the last week of July.
